Ice hockey DEL: Straubing vs. Iserlohn – live ticker – 35th matchday – 2022/2023

24

14:55

Only now can the Tigers really pick up the pace. Marcel Brandt gets stuck on Andreas Jenike from a short distance!

23

14:54

Now only one rooster attacks, but the neutral zone is tight again. So far, Greg Poss’ team has been very good at taking the momentum out of Straubing’s own game.

22

14:53

The Sauerlanders go into the forecheck with three men. It still makes sense what Iserlohn is doing here.

21

14:51

The middle section is running! The Roosters grab the first puck.

21

14:50

Beginning of 2nd third

20

14:36

third conclusion:
Christmas spirit came up early in the rainy powder tower – but only because the Tigers gave out lots of presents. Again and again, the Lower Bavarians came too late in the decisive scenes, received unnecessary penalties and were left behind in a few face-offs in their own third. The Roosters could have taken a better lead than just 2-0. The lack of chances was punished, however, in the power play Straubing scored the goal in the final minutes. So everything is open again!

20

14:31

Travis Turnbull

Goal for Straubing Tigers, 1-2 by Travis Turnbull

Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! The pressure from the Tigers increased until finally Travis Turnbull scored another power play goal against his former club. He takes the cross pass to the left from the second row with a one-timer. Andreas Jenike actually has a clear view, but the shot is well placed.

20

14:31

The Roosters’ shorthand percentage is the worst in the league. Today, however, they also make a good impression with a man who is less defensive.

19

14:29

Emile Poirier

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Émile Poirier (Iserlohn Roosters)

That’s the way it is. Émile Poirier hooked his arm on Connolly, who failed to hit the puck properly as a result.

19

14:29

Here’s the Tigers’ first big chance! Garrett Festerling puts it over for Mike Connolly, who fails to put the disc in an empty net. There was an Iserlohner but probably with unfair means in between.

18

14:27

Ryan O’Connor and Chris Bigras are also doing a really good job so far. Straubing is still waiting for the first clear goal chance.

16

14:25

Chris Brown is often the rock in the surf for the Sauerland region, including a strong block in front of his own box.

15

14:23

Some of these are really big Christmas presents that the Tigers put under the tree for the Roosters. Iserlohn could have led higher.

14

14:22

The next face-off win in the attacking third. This time the gang bouncer lands in the slot with Sven Ziegler, who seems a little surprised. That was a huge opportunity!

13.

14:21

Again the Roosters win the face-off in the attacking third. New signing Chris Bigras holds onto it, it’s getting dangerous again.

11.

14:19

Keep the shop closed in the back and put pinpricks in the front – the Roosters have implemented this to perfection so far. In the outsider role, they actually seem to feel more comfortable.

10

14:18

The Tigers are completely off the roll, Florian Bugl has to save in the turmoil!

9.

14:15

Hubert Labrie

Goal for Iserlohn Roosters, 0:2 by Hubert Labrie

Is that still the repetition of the 1-0? No, after the power break, the Roosters extend the lead from the face-off! Kaspars Daugaviņš stages Hubert Labrie with a single long pass, who stays cool in front of Florian Bugl!

8th.

14:13

Casey Bailey

Goal for Iserlohn Roosters, 0-1 by Casey Bailey

As soon as it is said, this Casey Bailey hits the lead on the power play! A rebound from Eric Cornel lands in front of Bailey’s bat, who clears the left corner from close range!

8th.

14:12

Casey Bailey starts the one-timer from half-left. The 31-year-old Canadian is the most dangerous player on the ice so far.

7.

14:11

Mark Zengerle

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Mark Zengerle (Straubing Tigers)

Now this linesman keeps the overview and counts six Straubing field players on the ice for quite some time. Mark Zengerle is serving the sentence.

7.

14:10

Again the linesman is in the way! Because of his positional play, however, he also has to hold his own nose a little.

6.

14:10

Iserlohn is primarily trying to keep the shop closed for the time being. The plan is going well, at least so far.

5.

14:09

A lot of patchwork continues, on both sides a lot of disc losses creep in.

4.

14:06

JC Lipon clears the linesman! It really knocked the referee’s socks off, he held his back with a pained face.

3.

14:04

Both teams are still acting a bit hectic, but this is also due to the great aggressiveness. Casey Bailey is cleared nicely at the left corner, but pushes the disc past the near post.

1.

14:02

It starts! After only fourteen seconds, the dark blue-clad hosts scored their first goal through Parker Tuomie.

13:57

The hall at the Pulverturm is sold out! The fans in Lower Bavaria are in the mood for ice hockey. Of course, the good form of their Tigers also contributes to the rush. With the eleventh home win in a row, Straubing could equal the club’s record from the previous season.

1:49 p.m

Today’s Starting Six: Florian Bugl, Marcel Brandt, Stephan Daschner, Parker Tuomie, JC Lipon and Joshua Samanski start for Straubing. Iserlohn starts with Andreas Jenike, Torsten Ankert, Tim Bender, Sven Ziegler, Sena Acolatse and Brent Raedeke.

13:38

In addition, the Roosters seem to feel much more comfortable in the underdog role. Head coach Greg Poss emphasized before the match: “You’ve recently seen that the boys wanted too much at once and neglected the little things that we have to do right in every game. Straubing will have a lot of the disc, that’s special their game in their own hall – we have to fight for every centimeter of ice and not think too much”.

13:21

The first two meetings this year, however, went to the Sauerland. Iserlohn won the home game on the 14th match day 4:1. In addition, the Roosters recently signed Chris Bigras, an NFL-experienced Canadian defender.

13:16

The role of favorites is clearly divided: On the one hand the Tigers, who have all won their last ten home games and are clearly on course for the playoffs. On the other hand, the Roosters, who after four defeats in a row have to look down again with more concern.

13:11

Merry Christmas and welcome to the DEL game between the Straubing Tigers and the Iserlohn Roosters! It starts at 2 p.m. in Lower Bavaria.
