After a balanced and relatively uneventful start, the home side suddenly took the lead and later benefited from Mannheim’s lack of discipline. Too often guest players ended up in the penalty box and offered the DEL’s best power play opportunities to really warm up. The Red Bulls struck in the third majority and, with a 15:5 shot on goal in front of 5,728 spectators in the Olympic ice rink, they deservedly lead.
