On Friday evening, the capital city-dwellers won the repeat of last year’s final against the Wolfsburg Grizzlys 3-1 (1-0, 2-0, 0-1) and made it clear that they had made it into the playoffs early. The Grizzlies slipped to third place in the table.

Zachary Boychuk (9′), Simon Despres (35′) and Johan Södergran scored the goals for the Polar Bears, who recorded their eighth win in nine games.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Munich continued to successfully defy its mammoth program. Coach Don Jackson’s team won 5-2 (1-1, 3-0, 1-1) at the Kölner Haie and celebrated their sixth win in the last ten days.

Philip Gogulla (7th, 35th) scored twice for the Red Bulls, who jumped to second place in the table.
