Ice hockey: Czech bosom friends must help Amsterdam Tigers to national title

The ice hockey players of Amsterdam Tigers have added a star player since this summer. The Czech Petr Novák has already been named man of the match twice this season. The arrival of the thirty-year-old playmaker is no coincidence. Coach Ondrej Kratky has been his bosom friend for years and brought him to Amsterdam.

Ondrej Kratky is the coach of the Amsterdam Tigers from 2019. Last year he failed to win the national title. The Tilburg Trappers lost in the final. This year, the people of Amsterdam are aiming for rehabilitation. Therefore, trainer Kratky flew into another Czech. The arrival of the experienced Novák should increase the title chances.

Bosom friends

The arrival of Novák is no coincidence. Kratky and Novák have been best friends since childhood and know each other better than anyone. “He’s definitely one of the reasons I started playing here”, says a beaming Novák.

The Tigers won an important game against direct competitor Leeuwarden Capitals on Saturday. The team from Amsterdam won 7-3 and Novák stole the show. He was named man of the match with a goal and an assist. “People here love him. The arena was turned upside down when he scored. I’m glad he’s doing what we got him to do,” said a happy Kratky.
