Ice bathing with Filippa K in Amsterdam

Swedish fashion label Filippa K is opening a store in Amsterdam.

The opening of the new store is a continuation of the new conceptual approach to store design that the brand introduced at the Helsinki flagship last year, Filippa K announced on Thursday. The premises at PC Hooftstraat 125 in Amsterdam were designed in cooperation with the architectural office Profan.

The Swedish brand presents its women’s and men’s collection as well as selected core products over two floors on 170 square meters. There is also a terrace overlooking a small garden.

For the design, creative director Liisa Kessler explored dualities within a single retail space, but a key element of the Amsterdam store is the icy blue hue for the store’s flooring, the statement said. Aimed at evoking the misty Nordic landscapes of the brand’s homeland, the tone is also a nod to the tradition of ice bathing in northern Sweden – a theme that also inspired Kessler’s first campaign for Filippa K. The creative director took over from founder Filippa Knutsson in January 2022.

Decorative elements for the new store will be contributed by various artists, designers and artisans. Swedish artist Micael de Leeuw transformed scraps of yarn from past Filippa K collections into tapestries that now adorn the walls of the store’s basement changing rooms.
