IBM is suspending advertising on X with immediate effect

New York (Reuters) – The IT group IBM has stopped all advertising on the Internet portal X operated by Elon Musk with immediate effect.

The reason was a report from a media regulator that found that the company’s ads were placed next to content that promoted Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, IBM said on Thursday. “IBM has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination and we immediately suspended all advertising on X.” This completely unacceptable situation is now being investigated. X said its system does not intentionally place brands “actively next to this type of content.”

According to a survey, more and more users are turning their backs on the platform formerly known as Twitter because of the upheavals since Musk took over. According to a study, the increase in fake news and hate speech and the extensive abandonment of content moderation on Twitter/X are increasingly having a deterrent effect on users. The self-proclaimed “freedom of expression absolutist” and billionaire Musk had relaxed the rules for moderating content at X.
