Where and with whom do you live?
‘In Amsterdam South-East, with my father Ferre (42), mother Jamilah (45), brother Ingmar (9) and guinea pig Snow (1).’
How do you like having a guinea pig?
“Very nice, because it’s so cute. We actually wanted a dog or a cat, but that was not allowed, because Mom said she would have to change everything. Then we found Snow on Marktplaats. My brother and I got into a fight about who could keep him in the bedroom, so the loft is in the living room.’
Do you love animals?
‘Yes, especially from dogs, cats and rodents. My pake and beppe have a farm with horses in Friesland. They are nice to see, but I don’t really ride horses myself. It takes so long to get on them, you have to brush them all over first. And it’s so bumpy.”
Would you like to live on a farm yourself?
‘No, I like the city more. I would miss my school very much, especially because of my teacher and classmates. My teacher’s name is Natascha, she is very pleasant and always makes jokes during class.’
What do you like best at school?
‘I find it difficult to choose a favorite subject. I don’t mind language and math. Bevo (visual education, red.) is also fun sometimes, that depends on whether we have a nice assignment. Like recently, for example: we had to draw and craft what it would be like if we lived on Mars. I made a kind of round house with everything in it, just the things we have on earth, such as a bedroom and a bathroom. And a tram in a tube, with which you can go to other places without having to go outside. You can’t breathe on Mars.’
And what do you like to do when you are free?
‘Draw, read and watch Netflix. I usually watch Prince of Peoria, about a prince who goes to a host family because he wants to have a normal life. No one is allowed to find out, which causes all kinds of weird, funny things to happen. I wouldn’t want to be a princess myself, because everyone has an opinion about everything you do. Like Princess Alexia, for example: I think it’s stupid that everyone keeps talking about her just because she’s a princess. That wouldn’t happen to a normal person.’
What will your life look like in ten years?
‘I hope that I will have completed secondary school and will study law or go to teacher training college. Becoming a teacher seems like fun, because I like to play with children. But also becoming a lawyer, because then you can help people when they really need it. I can’t really choose, it’s such an important decision.’
