Luis García Plaza, coach of Mallorca, expressed his satisfaction with the victory (3-2) against Athletic Club, the second in a row in Son Moix, although he stressed that he would have preferred “to win 2-0 (the result of the first half) and not suffer so much.”
“We have attacked a lot, with 17 shots, and we almost did not win. What I liked the most is that after 2-2, the team took a step forward. I’m happy for the kids, who deserved it, and for the fans because it’s not easy to come to the field on a Monday night,” said García Plaza.
The Madrid coach insisted that with the 2-0 his team “wasn’t suffering anything, but they conceded two goals in two minutes.”
“It is important to close the goal, defend certain situations better, but winning in the final minutes gives more emotionas in the Wanda (against Atlético de Madrid), although we have also lost points in injury time in San Sebastián, Valencia and Cádiz”, he specified.
Regarding Athletic, García Plaza pointed out that “the Copa del Rey” could have influenced their performance in Son Moix.
