Helsingin Sanomat according to the report, the Art Promotion Center Taike also distributed corona grants to quite well-paid Finnish artists during the pandemic.

One of those who received support was the musician-actor Olavi Uusivirta, who received a corona grant totaling 25,000 euros. At the same time, in 2020 and 2021, Uusivirta earned a total of more than 303,000 euros in earnings and capital income.

Uusivirta commented on the matter Facebook– account on Sunday.

– I wondered for a moment if I had been greedy. Had I finally committed a mortal sin? Uusivirta starts.

– In retrospect, it can be said that I applied for a corona grant, even though I earned unbelievable amounts of money, he continues.

According to Uusivirta, “the money was gone, and the mailbox was flooded with bills”.

In his article, Uusivirta criticized nine parliamentary parties, none of which, according to him, represented culture.

– An entire trade union was born, which was prevented from working by force of legislation. This profession absorbed all professions that were in any way related to the presence of the public. Public gatherings were banned.

Uusivirta continues how the opportunity to work was denied and no compensation was paid.

– My account was full of nothing, I swear this hand on all the holy books. I had no money. It was not in sight either. I applied for a grant. I got a grant.

He says that he decided a year earlier to renovate the house, for which, according to him, the grant was not enough.

– First, the company’s fund investments were sold. Then we became fairy tale brothers (ad infinitum). Then the soul was sold anywhere.

Uusivirta writes that “eventually money started flowing into the account”.

– So had I been a greedy pig when applying for a grant in the stupid depths of the corona pandemic? Uusivirta asks.

– I act like a white-tailed deer in an urban forest — always exaggerating emergency protection. I grabbed every branch that stuck out from the banks of the river into the paws of a sea urchin. This is how 99% of my fatemates worked.

Uusivirta says he interviewed the remaining one percent. When asked why the remaining percentage did not apply for support, the answer was as follows, according to Uusivirta:

– I didn’t want my face on the pages of Finland’s most culturally hostile magazine, answered the remaining percent.
