“I was glad I was alive”

A few weeks ago, Otto Invenius had to experience first-hand that biathlon is a very dangerous sport. The Finn had a bad accident with his roller skis, in which he was even unconscious at times.

According to his own statements, Otto Invenius had a bad fall during the pre-season. Accordingly, the 21-year-old had a serious accident in Kontiolahti. The biathlon talent lost two teeth, bled and was even unconscious for about a minute, the Finn told his story at “biathlonworld.com“.

“I called an ambulance to take me to the hospital,” Invenius said. The winter sports enthusiast can now look back on the brutal crash. “I had more luck than bad luck. I was glad that I was alive and able to stand on my own two feet,” said Invenius.

In general, the biathlete always tries to see things positively. “Even if your car has one broken wheel, you still have three left, so why complain about a broken wheel?” Invenius explained his point of view.

Biathlon “the best sport in the world”

The young hope came to biathlon through his older brother. Invenius had previously tried other sports such as athletics or ski jumping. “Now I love biathlon. It’s the best sport in the world,” enthused Invenius.

The North European named Martin Fourcade as his great role model. “One of the best things about him was that he wanted the French team to achieve big goals. I like the team player attitude,” revealed Invenius.

In the coming biathlon season, Invenius will be part of the Finnish A-Team. “Our new national coach gave me some tips that I’ve never heard before. I think it’s going to be a great time with him. It’s a chance for me to push my limits. My main goal is to start with a Finnish relay team to be on the podium”, is how the young talent formulated his goals for the future.
