In an interview, David Harbor talks about regrets, personal goals – and what he would change if he could.
So far, David Harbor has not commented on his ex-wife Lily Allen’s revealing new album, in which she accuses him of infidelities, sex addiction and dishonesty. However, a September and now published interview with the “Stranger Things” actor provides insight into Harbour’s personal views.

“Pain and mistakes are part of the journey”
When asked if he had any regrets or would change anything in his life, Harbor told Esquire: “I would change everything or nothing. Either you fully accept your path and realize that the pain and the missteps and the mistakes are part of the journey and that in all of it there is truth and growth and wisdom and deeper empathy and connection. It’s like a house of cards: once you try to change one thing, you somehow have to change everything.”
He continued: “[Als Künstler] is about integrating your life into something that you can give to other people so that they can have a cathartic response to their life. If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer? If I were to change anything, I would change everything and just make my life happy and silly and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would be a shame.”
On the hunt for the perfect story
Harbor celebrated its 50th birthday in April. When asked what he wanted to see in the next 50 years, he told Esquire: “Chasing the perfect story is like chasing a kite. […] I want to tell beautiful, amazing stories that make people feel things they’ve never felt before. Part of this is giving them comfort, making them feel truly seen and heard, and getting them to question things they might not normally question. To confuse you a little about deeper things beneath the surface.”
Harbor strives for balance
Harbor continued, “I think that balance in storytelling is what I’m striving for, and it’s so exciting to have more control. The next 50 years will be full of complex and rich stories that will stir every emotion, inspire you, and keep you excited for the next installment. That will really be my focus. Then, of course, there are personal things I want to do and people I want to love, do good for, and nurture.”
An album about betrayal and infidelity
The singer and Harbour’s former wife Lily Allen’s latest album, WEST END GIRL, which was released on October 24th, details the infidelities that Harbor is said to have committed. On the record, Allen talks about affairs, a sex addiction and bags of sex toys from her ex-husband. The two had apparently already separated at the beginning of the year.
Millie Bobby Brown accuses Harbor of bullying
Meanwhile, not only Allen’s new album, but also another celebrity has drawn the spotlight on Harbor: While preparations for the release of the series finale of “Stranger Things” are in full swing, series star Millie Bobby Brown is accusing her colleague of harassment and bullying on the set.
The Mail on Sunday reported that Harbor faced a months-long internal investigation after the 21-year-old complained about his behavior towards her. The outcome of this investigation is unknown. However, the newspaper stated that Brown’s complaint did not contain allegations of sexual harassment.
“Stranger Things” hype continues
A source told the paper: “Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying complaint before filming began on the final season. There were pages and pages of allegations. The investigation took months.” The actress reportedly had a personal representative on set while filming the final season.
Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the fifth and final season – and it will soon be here: The first part of the series finale will be released on November 27th at 2 a.m. German time, the second part on December 26th, also at 2 a.m. The finale will air on New Year’s Day. The creators of the series have already confirmed in interviews that there will be an 18-month time jump between the finale of the fourth season and the first episode of the fifth season. All characters are back in the series town of Hawkins and living under military quarantine. Additionally, they told Variety that the finale will be “around two hours” long.
