MTV reporter With Mika Tommola, 62, usually has an optimistic attitude. About 15 years ago, however, Tommola noticed that joy had disappeared from her life. The feeling had been replaced by restlessness, rude behavior, cynicism and impatience.
Anna recalls how the unpleasant situation made her seek an occupational health doctor. At that time, he was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Anxiety was often seen in crisis situations, from which the journalist began to look for a hasty way out.
– I didn’t have the ability to calm down, to see the big picture. I made rash and bad decisions then, even though I imagine I’m a smart person, he tells the magazine.
With the help of a character therapist, Tommola found out, among other things, that the things that happened in his childhood had shaped him into a little comedian who wanted to color the sadness and make his parents laugh. Tommola doesn’t have all the answers yet, but he still feels that he has developed as a person. For example, he has practiced listening and empathy in therapy.
With his experience, he warmly recommends therapy to everyone.
– I mourn when I see nervous and sudden people and I feel that the explanation for the nature can be found in childhood. Balance in life could be achieved under the guidance of a qualified therapist, he adds.
