The former triumphant presents this Saturday in Murcia his new album, ‘Me siento vivo’, an album that perfectly defines his current situation, both personally and professionally

More than twenty years have passed since that young man with the iconic curls obtained second place in the first edition of Operación Triunfo. Two decades later, the curls have disappeared, but the essence of David Bisbal remains intact. The man from Almería has returned to the stage stronger than ever to present what will be his eighth album, I feel alive, and this Saturday he will step on the stage at the Plaza de Toros de La Condomina as part of the Murcia On festival program .

The tour begins, but we don’t know what the new album will be like. I feel alive. What can the public find in it?

I really want the public to know the new album, I think they will be surprised, since there are a variety of musical styles, from up tempo, ballads, more eighties rhythms…

After twenty years of career, could you say that you are more alive than ever, as you have titled your album?

Totally, I think that this record symbolizes very well the moment I am in, in which, as you say, I feel more alive than ever, both personally and professionally, and with energy to continue for at least another twenty years of my career.

How would you define these two decades within the music scene?

During these twenty years I have been discovering different vocal nuances and seeing how music has constantly evolved, changing sounds and musical genres.

And how would you define your audience?

I have had a wonderful public that has perfectly known how to adapt to all the changes that I have continuously presented with the different projects. This is not to say that everything has been easy, since I have many followers who prefer the songs from the beginning of my career and there are others who obviously wish that I was continually discovering other sounds. I also really liked observing that with the passage of time families and followers are growing and they are introducing me to these new bisbaleros that come to the world.

Do you still feel that fear before going on stage?

The nerves of responsibility will always be very present every time you want to go on stage because it represents your commitment to do your job in the best way. Experience is also an important contribution and, of course, also the confidence that working with a solid team gives you, with your musicians, your engineers and all the people who get on stage with you.

Do you think that if you had not been in Operación Triunfo you would have achieved all these successes?

Surely I would have kept trying with all my might to find someone to fulfill my dreams, record a solo album and start my career, but the way in which I was able to present what I felt with music thanks to Operación Triunfo was a dream.

What would I change about that one? David Bisbal?

I would change their nerves, their way of studying, their productivity and, in general, obviously I would change many things to feel more prepared, but I also liked that everything happened in a natural and spontaneous way, which is what my audience has always thanked me for. .

What is the formula to maintain that success after such a rapid rise in the world of music?

Here we could talk about teamwork, there is a phrase that I always love to quote that reads: “If I have been able to see a little further it is thanks to the fact that I have been on the back of a giant”. I have always liked to thank the work team for their commitment. Afterwards, I really liked trying to improve with discipline and, thank God, every day we have the opportunity to improve and learn something, you just have to choose it.

Do you think that social networks and participation in programs like The voice Have they increased their audience and made them show you what they are like?

Precisely one of the most important things that La Voz has is that you can get to know the coaches and the participants more closely. It is a program to which I am very grateful. I am a faithful admirer of La Voz Kids and it is an honor to be able to participate in the discovery of voices that will represent us in the future.

After having lived through a similar experience, to what extent do you empathize with the contestants on shows like La Voz?

Very much. Mainly because we are not judges, I consider myself more of an advisor or a counselor.

Which are the songs that people will find in the new tour?

After the twentieth anniversary, a repertoire has remained so effective and so powerful that I want to continue defending it on this tour, but obviously the repertoire, the stage and the new songs from the album Me Siento Alive will be present giving life to a new show with unforgettable moments.

has recently been held eurovision, was one of the candidates in its edition. If given the opportunity, would you accept the challenge?

Well, when they gave me the opportunity to present three songs to represent our country in Eurovision, I gave myself 100% to try to achieve it, but in the end it couldn’t be like that. In any case, accompanying Rosa on this wonderful adventure, I can say that it was one of the moments that I have enjoyed the most in my entire musical career.

In recent weeks, the video in which he appears saying: “How are the machines” has gone viral. How has she lived it?

I’ve laughed out loud with all the memes they’ve made throughout this period because some are really to be remembered and framed. I have always communicated with my followers in a colloquial way and for us –the people of Almeria– saying ‘máquina’ is something very common. This arose at the exit of one of my concerts at the WiZink Center in Madrid, I met a group of followers who asked me for a photo. I really like the closeness of my people and that is how I enjoy life.

You are still one of the greatest exponents of Spanish Latin pop. Is there pressure to maintain the level?

It is a commitment that I have with music and with my record company, to never give up to, at least, try to adapt to the musical trends that appear over time. Also, I have to say that it’s a lot of fun to have to do it. How boring life would be if everything were simple!
