“I know what f***ing is!”

Mark Rutte received a big round of applause in Today Inside yesterday evening after his comment that he knows what n**ken is. “Johan, I can reassure you: I know what that is!” said the prime minister.

The private life of Prime Minister Mark Rutte is regularly ridiculed, because he is never seen with a love by his side. Critics believe that the prime minister is definitely still a virgin. On that subject, the VVD leader made a spicy joke at the table last night at the viewing figure hit Today Inside.

Thunderous applause

Presenter Wilfred Genee confronted the prime minister with a fragment in which colleague Johan Derksen speaks somewhat vulgarly about the prime minister: “I smell a romance with that right-wing Italian lady. Those two get along so well. Maybe he’ll recover from that. You must have a prime minister who knows what f***ing is, right?”

Then Rutte comes into the picture. “Johan, I can reassure you: I know what that is!”

John: “Are you serious?”

Rutte: “Yes, yes, yes.”

Wilfred: “Applause ladies and gentlemen! He did it! Good! Yes Yes!”

It leads to thunderous applause in the studio.

Spicy joke

Then Rutte comes to Johan with a spicy joke. “Johan, I don’t want to make it personal, or to any of the others, but we all know: there are people who do it and don’t talk about it, and there are people who talk about it a lot and don’t do it . So you just have to see where you are!”

It leads to laughter in the studio. To preempt Wilfred, the prime minister remarks: “Yes, I had prepared that one!”

Johan: “It is good practice here that we talk about this very openly.”

Intimate attribute

At the end of the broadcast, Rutte is still confronted with an intimate attribute, which eventually ends up on the head of René van der Gijp. If the football analyst then puts the toy on the table in front of the prime minister, he immediately slides it to the other side of the table. Those kinds of images are difficult to explain abroad, jokes Rutte.

All in all, Rutte himself looks back on a great performance at Today Inside. His campaign team cleverly cut a clip from the broadcast in which it looks as if Johan is going to vote for the VVD (see below). A vote that actually goes to the BBB of Caroline van der Plas.
