‘I know someone who has seen Matthijs’ roaring film’

René Mioch knows someone who has seen Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s howler video. This makes the existence of the footage more plausible. “That’s what they say to me.”

A manhunt has been opened for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s howler video. According to Özcan Akyol, until recently a confidant of Matthijs, that video is circulating in Hilversum circles, but TV celebrities claim that this is not true. From Angela de Jong and Tina Nijkamp to Luuk Ikink: no one has seen the footage.

‘Seen a movie’

In fact, some wonder whether the video even exists and whether Özcan is not a liar. “Everyone has seen the video in Hilversum, according to Eus, but whoever you call, who you speak to and who you text – we have been looking for that video since Friday – no one has seen or heard,” says TV expert Bart Ettekoven in Show news.

Then it turns out that there is someone at the Shownieuws desk who knows someone who has seen the video. Bart: “Some people, and I’m looking at you René, know people who have seen the video. Is that right?”

What does René say?

Film expert René Mioch confirms this, although he is cautious: “They say they have seen it.”

Bart: “But it all remains a bit vague.”

Colleague Tooske Ragas: “You almost wonder if that video even exists if no one…”

Bart: “It has or has been seen, but what René says… He knows someone who has seen it.”

René: “What is so important about the video? We already know everything, right? Everything is described in reports and so on.”

‘It is important’

Bart emphasizes that publishing the video is indeed relevant. “I think it is definitely different. You can see it in Eus. He has also read the Volkskrant and the report, but he is now changing his opinion a bit. Until Friday, he always stood up for his friendship and now says: ‘I have a few questions for Matthijs’.”

Because he saw that video. “There are of course many people now who say that he has occasionally gotten a little out of his depth and that that should be possible, with Johan Derksen in the lead, so it is a thing. When you see it, you really see what’s happening. It can have quite an impact, so I understand why people are now saying: show me that video.”

BNNVARA responds

BNNVARA does not want to confirm or deny that a howling video of Matthijs is circulating. “We are not participating in all the attention that is currently being paid to a video that is going around. It’s not important to us either. Attention must be focused on Van Rijn’s report and how we can together guarantee a safe working environment for everyone.”

Bart: “I’m curious whether it will surface. You would say that it would have surfaced on a juice channel or in our editorial office in recent days.”
