We see Marc-Marie Huijbregts continuously smiling at talk show tables, but in his neighborhood he is definitely not known as a smiley face. He turns out to be kind grumpy neighbor sitting on his balcony all day pissed off because some kids are playing on a slide across the street. In the middle of Amsterdam.

Children on slide

It’s really annoying, Marc-Marie complains in his podcast. “We live opposite a playground in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. They redecorated that playground a while ago with new equipment. Now some weirdo has put a slide there made of stainless steel or something. Of iron.”

And playing children? Not in his backyard please! “Those children (makes a rattling noise, ed.) Are there banging hard all the time, which makes a lot of noise. There are parents, I sit on the balcony in front of it, I hear that and no parent says anything about it.

Angry Marc-Marie

Marc-Marie thinks that’s really rotten parents. “They are all dead inside, I think. They are like: I hope my life is over and those kids are just clapping and nobody says anything.”

A few more days with children playing and the squeaky comedian storms out of his apartment. “Then I’m almost tempted to go down, walk across and say, ‘Can someone tell those kids to stop?’ I find that unbelievable.”

Tap on glass

It’s so annoying when there are children in a restaurant, Marc-Marie continues to grumble. “I sometimes see it in a restaurant. Then they sit in a restaurant all the time tapping a glass, but the parents no longer hear that. Then you say: “Could you take that away?” I really can’t stand that.”

Time for a diazepam.
