important podium for Jorge Navarrowho needed a good result in Portimao after a somewhat complicated weekend and at the gates of the Top10.
After three out of four races in the points -two of them among the top seven- the Valencian driver from Pobla de Vallbona managed to return to the podium after ten Grand Prix without doing so (the last one was at Silverstone last year). Ahead of him they entered Vietti and, even further, Joe Roberts, which gave a real display under mixed circumstances.
The Valencian, after a truly atypical Grand Prix in any of the three categories of the MotoGP structure, acknowledged having disputed the “craziest race of my entire career. Yesterday’s Qualy was very complicated and, of course, the rest of the weekend It hasn’t been an easy task either.” said Jorge, who spoke on behalf of all the drivers.

“In the 1st race I was feeling very good, I had a good pace but everything had to stop because we could not continue in any way, it is clear“, he pointed out flatly. On the second race, the Flexbox HP40 driver said that he was missing “some aggressiveness but that the situation was too unpredictable. He could have been second … but between risking it and tying up third position, I have opted for the second“, he added.
The Grand Prix went to Joe Roberts, who was very happy -and somewhat incredulous- in Parc Fermé. “This victory is very important for America. I did not believe that he had opened a gap with the pursuers, no way. When I have seen them so far already at the finish line I have freaked out. Hopefully it’s the first of many,” she commented.
