Måneskin have reported on their first encounter with the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger personally invited the band to open a Rolling Stones concert in Las Vegas on November 6th in 2021. They started talking to each other backstage. That year, the Italian band became world famous by winning the Eurovision Song Contest.
“It was our first stadium show, so it was crazy,” bassist Victoria De Angelis said on The Tonight Show. She described meeting the Rolling Stones singer as “iconic”. “He was so nice and knew a lot of our songs,” she recalled. The band also posted a picture with Jagger on Instagram after the concert.
Keith Richards, unlike his bandmate, doesn’t appear to have been a fan of Måneskin. He said to the Italian musicians: “I don’t know who the hell you are, but I was told that you are good.” Singer Damiano David said in an interview that there was still praise from Richards: “He said, ‘You’re playing real instruments, so keep going’. And then he disappeared.”
On the “Tonight Show” Måneskin performed the song “Gossip” from their current album “Rush!”. Also on stage: guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, who worked on the track. Rush! is the band’s third studio album. Her debut “Il ballo della bita” was released in 2018.
