The world champion of Bikini Fitness is aiming for prestigious competitions in a new sport.
Antti Nikkanen
Former bikini fitness athlete Pernilla Böckerman23, skied the Vasaloppet 45 ski competition on Tuesday.
It is a 45-kilometer race that is skied in Sweden from Oxberg to Mora. The traditional Vasaloppet is half as long, i.e. 90 kilometers long and runs from Sälen to Mora.
Böckerman cleared the time of the race in 3:48.09.
– I don’t know when was the last time my extensors were this sore. Otherwise, it’s okay, he commented on his race in the stories of his Instagram account.
In 2021, Böckerman won the Bikini Fitness Junior World Championship. He told Iltalehte in January that his career in the sport is over.
– I can say it out loud that I will not return to the podium again. The sport no longer feels like my own. This has been a long consideration. Now no more for the competition stages, but there are new designs coming, he commented.
The former fitness athlete feels that his life no longer revolves around the sport. In fitness, there are quite a few competitions a year, but they require extremely disciplined preparation.
– I’ve noticed that I’m good in other sports as well and simply a freer life, entrepreneurship, social media and media interest me more at the moment. However, I am still 100% an athlete, but now there is a new sport and new goals.
Böckerman is currently training for indoor rowing. He aims to compete in the sport next year and aims for a place in the World Championships in the future.
