The Ferrari driver has taken his fault in the accident, ruling out a problem with the throttle

The Monegasque criticizes himself: “It’s extremely frustrating, I haven’t been good enough”

After his victory in Austria, Leclerc has seen how his illusions were dashed after suffering an accident that has left him out of action in France. Although the Monegasque driver was hot, he has hinted with his shouts of rage that there was a problem with the Ferrari’s accelerator, which was already ‘stuck’ in the last laps at the Red Bull Ring, after the race he has assumed the mistake as his own.

“No, it was not a mechanical problem. Without excuses. It’s obviously extremely frustrating. I feel like I’m performing at the highest level of my career since the beginning of the season, but I can’t think of being a champion if I make these mistakes.” Leclerc said, dejected.

“I think there are 32 points in total that I have lost due to errors, today I think 25, because it was likely that we were going to win, since we were fast. And another 7 points in Imola with another mistake of mine, so at the end of the year we will do the tally again, and if I lose the world championship because of those 32 points then I will know that it was because of me and that I did not deserve the championship. But for the second half of the season I have to get my act together if I want to compete for the title”, he acknowledged.

Leclerc He also explained that “we have had a very complicated balance all weekend and with so much heat it has been difficult to be consistent. I have made a mistake where I shouldn’t have made one. I haven’t been good enough”, he insisted.

With the Hungarian GP next weekend, Leclerc has no time to mourn and is not going to throw in the towel: “I will believe in my chances to be champion until the end, but right now it doesn’t look good.”
