Waylon was not invited to the wedding of his Voice colleague Anouk, where no fewer than 40,000 people were present. “That’s all fine. We don’t have much contact with each other.”
The atmosphere between Anouk and Waylon is anything but good. The singer broke all ties with the ‘corrupt gang’ at The Voice in January when the abuse scandal surrounding the program came to light. He really blamed her for that, because most of the talent show employees would just be good.
Not at wedding
Anouk married her great love in front of 40,000 concert-goers yesterday, but Waylon was not there. He traveled to Deventer last night to record the radio program of Özcan Akyol, Our Man In Deventer† “I’m okay with Anouk,” the singer answers after a question about his Voice colleague.
Still, Waylon was not at her wedding. “No, I had an appointment with you. For a very long time. I didn’t know she was getting married at the time.”
“No invitation!”
Waylon could have canceled that appointment, of course, but: “I’m not invited either. Look, Anouk and I are just colleagues and that’s all fine, but otherwise we don’t have a lot of contact with each other. That’s okay too.”
The relationship is businesslike, says Waylon. “I respect her and of course she has a fantastic career. Now she’s doing something crazy again today and we can laugh about that, right?”
Anouk angry?
What about Anouk then? Has she had it with him? “I’m okay with Anouk. I don’t know if we’re okay with each other. Well, well, she’s not at the table, I don’t know, but I’m assuming it is, but maybe it’s different. I don’t know.”
It is still unclear whether their program The Voice will return on the tube. According to critics, the chance that Anouk will be there again is small, but Waylon would like to participate again.
‘Voice has to go back!’
Waylon would love that. “I hope The Voice comes back and I’ll be in that chair again, if only for the feeling of finishing it one more time. I think that last season is pretty much in the trash, but to also restore the honor of the employees, who did their best and were always okay. That is definitely the majority.”
It seems to be technically difficult, since Waylon has a big tour in his agenda next season. Why didn’t he leave some space for The Voice? “That is not possible. Then you start betting on a horse that hasn’t been born yet. You can’t take things like that into account.”
