Huskies attack livestock again after alpacas: two sheep injured, one dead

Two huskies attacked a group of four sheep in a meadow on the Wakkerendijk near Eemnes, but one sheep did not survive. These are the same huskies that attacked a group of alpacas in September last year, also killing one victim.

The attack happened just after 9am this morning. According to the owner of the sheep, the two dogs were running loose in the pasture. “My wife was home alone at the time and suddenly heard a lot of barking and saw what was going on. The police had to be involved to get the dogs loose from the sheep,” he says. RTV Utrecht.

One sheep dead

At that time, two sheep were already injured. One has already been forced to be killed on the spot, while a second sheep is in serious condition, according to the owner.

The other two are now inside. “I have them as a hobby. Last year we had fourteen sheep, and we lost many of them to the bluetongue. And now this, that’s quite a shock.”

Behavioral test

The dogs were seized by the police with the permission of the Public Prosecution Service. It is certain that they will not return to their owners, they have voluntarily given up the animals. “They are subjected to a behavioral test before it is determined what will happen to them,” a spokesperson said.
