“Olivia, our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural. We never had to ‘work’ on it,” Easterling writes. “We were impressed by this great mystery and accepted it as past, present and forever.”
Easterling says Newton-John is the “braveest woman” he has ever known. According to him, she always took care of the people and nature around her and even “in her most difficult hours” with “humour and willpower” provided light in the darkness. “Even now that her soul has ascended, the pain in my heart is filled with the joy of her love,” he concludes. “Our family is immensely grateful for the vast sea of love and support.”
Easterling also announced Newton-John’s death via social media on Monday. The singer and actress died at the age of 73 from breast cancer, which had spread to the sacrum.
