Elton John’s husband David Furnish revealed that the British singer will undergo knee surgery in the coming weeks.
Elton John gets two new knees
“He’s doing great,” Furnish told The Sun magazine on Sunday, March 10, at the annual Oscars party for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the nonprofit organization the musician founded in 1992 .
“He’s going to have another knee operation in a few weeks and by the summer he’ll have two brand new knees,” said the musician’s 61-year-old husband. He even joked that his 76-year-old partner, who gave his last concerts in 2023, will hit the dance floor again. “I think you’ll see him breakdancing on the carpet next year.”
Elton John’s music soon as a musical?
Furnish also mentioned that the couple is open to the idea of putting Elton’s extensive catalog of music into a musical show. “A catalog musical, we always look at that,” he revealed. “I haven’t found anything yet that really covers everything… I think if we were going to do it, we would want to do it in a way that was really innovative and exciting and different.”
But he added that Elton already has two musicals – “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Tammy Faye” – in production. “We’re open to all great ideas and it’s a wonderful catalog,” John’s partner explained. “But at the moment we’re pretty busy with the other two musicals.”
