HANDBALL – In the last round of the BENE-League competition, Hurry Up lost 34-30 to closest competitor BEVO from Panningen in Limburg. As a result, Joop Fiege’s team ends the regular season with eighth place in the final standings.
Hurry Up had little to lose in the BENE-League today. The participants in the Final4 were known and with a seventh place in the ranking, Hurry Up was no longer with that. In three weeks, the Fiege team will start the battle for the HandbalNL League in which the Dutch title is at stake.
Eliminated lead
BEVO was two places behind the Zwartemeerders today and Hurry Up also took the initiative early in the game. After ten minutes they had a three point lead at a score of 5-8. After twenty minutes of play, the roles were again reversed and BEVO was the dominant party.
The home team didn’t give up the lead anymore and even ran out to a lead of six points in the second half. Including two throws from seven meters, taken by René Jaspers, Hurry Up came back into the game somewhat and the gap was narrowed to 3 points. In the end, the home team held out, and Fiege’s team was trumped 34-30.
