The fire brigade in Berlin has been in constant use because of the hurricane “Zeynep” and has been deployed around 670 times (as of 8.30 a.m.).
Most of the time it was about smaller events, said a spokesman on Saturday night. According to the current overview, no one was injured in the capital because of the storm.
A tree had fallen on the S-Bahn tracks in Schöneberg. A train drove against the obstacle on the priest’s path. Since it was a small tree, nothing happened to anyone. Around 80 passengers sat in the S-Bahn. The fire brigade cleared the tracks again.
In Treptow, the storm covered the flat roof of an office building, said the fire department spokesman. In addition, many trees fell in the residential area of Grunewald. Here the fire brigade was in action to clear the streets. Otherwise, the firefighters would have had to deal with numerous smaller things such as loose components.
There are massive restrictions, delays and cancellations in S-Bahn traffic.
The weather service also warns of gusts of wind on Saturday
The German Weather Service in Berlin is also warning of gusts of wind with speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour for Saturday. The warning is in effect until 5 p.m.
Emergency calls in Brandenburg massively overloaded
The emergency calls from the fire brigade and rescue service in Brandenburg are massively overloaded, according to a current official hazard notification. This applies to the districts of Barnim, Uckermark and Oberhavel. There are long waiting times.
During the night, the storm on Kiefholzstraße in Baumschulenweg, a district of Treptow, tore away about 80 square meters of roof construction. The storm distributed insulating material generously in the area. Rescuers from the Berlin fire brigade removed hanging roofing felt.
A large tree crashed into at least one parked car on Lucy-Lameck-Strasse in Neukölln, piercing the windshield. Forces of the Berlin fire brigade removed the tree. According to initial findings, no one was injured.
In the Lintruper Straße in Lichtenrade, the storm swept away around 500 square meters of roof during the night. Parts of the insulation were distributed in the area. The fire brigade secured the damaged area.
Several trees fell down on Luciusstrasse/Bernadottestrasse in Grunewald. A large branch smashed through the windshield of a parked car, and a fence was also damaged. The fire brigade spent several hours repairing the damage and dismantling and removing the trees.
In the Gudrunstraße in Lichtenberg, the hurricane covered a roof, roofing felt fell down and damaged several vehicles. The fire brigade freed the damaged vehicles, but had to stop work on the roof due to the storm. The strong wind also damaged a roof on Charlottenstrasse in Niederschönhausen, and the roofing felt and insulation fell down.
A large tree fell against a residential building on Marchwitzastrasse in Berlin-Marzahn, nobody was injured. There was material damage to the facade.
In Vulkanstrasse/Josef-Orlopp-Strasse in Lichtenberg, the fire brigade had to remove an uprooted tree to avert danger.
In addition, a tree fell on the street in Dol in Berlin-Dahlem at night and damaged the car and lantern. The fire brigade dismantled the tree.

At the capital’s BER airport, hundreds of passengers who had arrived despite the storm waited in vain for their suitcases late on Friday evening. This was reported by a dpa reporter. Due to the storm, the airport stopped loading baggage.

In Potsdam, two trees fell on a parked tram. It was empty, so that no one was injured, reported a spokesman for the Northwest control center in Potsdam. In Premnitz in Havelland, a tree fell into an overhead line on a railway line.
In Brandenburg an der Havel, the storm covered the roof of an old industrial hall. Parts of the roof fell onto a relatively busy road, as a fire department spokesman said. Nobody was injured.
The Lausitz control center assessed the storm situation as manageable. Dozens of trees fell in the region, but other major incidents were not initially reported. The storm should calm down in the early hours of the morning.
