Huge fright at the end of the European Athletics Championships in Istanbul. The Spanish hurdler Enrique Llopis (22) fell over 60 meters hurdles in the final and then lay motionless.

What happened?

Lopis missteps his race, falls over the last hurdle and then hits his head hard on the track.

Doctors and helpers immediately rush over, shield the athlete with large towels and stabilize the Spaniard’s head and neck.

Llopis is then taken out of the hall on a stretcher. There were initially no details about his state of health. But Spanish media reports that Llopis is now conscious and in a hospital
