Hunter Patrick Geelhand de Merxem (63) found dead at Kemmelberg

“The body was next to a dead deer and a hunting weapon and had a gunshot wound,” said the prosecutor’s office.

“The prosecutor’s office has gone with a medical doctor, lab and weapons expert. An investigating judge has also been requested.”

The body was found in a forest between the Kemmelberg and the Monteberg near the Klokhofweg and the hiking trail.

Famous fighter

Patrick Geelhand de Merxem (63) was a lawyer but also an avid hunter. He was chairman of the game management unit In Flanders Fields for 25 years. He passed the torch in 2019.
