Hunter Biden charged, concealed drug addiction when purchasing gun | Abroad

US Special Prosecutor David Weiss has filed three charges against Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, as expected. Hunter would be the violated the gun law by, among other things, ‘unlawfully possessing a firearm as a drug addict’. It is the first time that a child of a sitting president has been charged.

The 53-year-old Biden previously appeared to have made a deal with the justice department to avoid prosecution. He would plead guilty to tax evasion to avoid being charged with violating the gun law. That agreement did not last, after which Weiss announced last week that he would sue Biden.

Biden bought a revolver five years ago. That was during a period in which he later admitted that he was addicted to drugs. He allegedly did not indicate this on forms when purchasing and therefore lied.

Hunter often appears negatively in the news. For example, he is said to have evaded taxes and abused his father’s position of power for business contacts in China and Ukraine. The latter also causes problems for Joe Biden.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday assigned an investigative committee to consider possible impeachment proceedings against the president for the alleged abuse of power. According to the White House, there is no evidence whatsoever and even the Republicans in the Senate reportedly see little interest in an impeachment of Joe Biden.
