Huntelaar and Hamstra remain responsible for Ajax transfers

Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Gerry Hamstra will remain responsible for the technical policy at Ajax. Huntelaar confirmed that himself tonight in football talk show Rondo† Earlier, general manager Edwin van der Sar hinted that the duo could stay.

This means Huntelaar and Hamstra will be responsible for buying and selling players during the transfer period next summer.

The duo started in February with the succession of Mark Overmars, who suddenly left for transgressive behavior† Huntelaar, who was an Ajax player until January 2021 and stopped playing football six months later, had no experience as a technical director at the time.

According to the former striker, the collaboration with Hamstra, who was technical manager at sc Heerenveen between 2016 and 2021, is ‘very natural’: “The two of us are doing well and complement each other well.”

Brobbey

One of the first players Huntelaar wants to sign is Brian Brobbey. The 20-year-old striker left for free to the German RB Leipzig a year ago, but returned to Ajax on a rental basis in the winter.

In the second part of the season, Brobbey impressed by scoring 7 times in 11 games. “Brobbey has done a fantastic job,” in Rondo. “He has been important in the championship race with his goals.”

The lease expires this summer, but both Ajax and Brobbey actually want to continue working together for longer. The Telegraph can report that a definitive return carries a price tag of 10 million euros.

The fact that Brobbey left Ajax transfer-free a year ago “we do not take into account”, says Huntelaar. “It’s about quality, but in the end it has to be compatible.” According to Huntelaar, Brobbey left for abroad too early: “But I think he indirectly says that because he came back.”
