Easter clots are currently being collected in several places in the province to offer people with a smaller purse a luxurious Easter breakfast during Easter. In the Zaanstreek and Haarlemmermeer, foundations collect goodies for the table. “It’s nice if a less fortunate family can also celebrate Easter.”
Patricia’s living room from Wormerveer is full of bags. There are loaves of bread in all bags, but Easter clots are still missing. Cindy and Patricia of the Prakkie Over 075 foundation are trying to get enough of those festive loaves together these days. “It’s nice if a less fortunate family can also celebrate Easter and set their table.”
Easter doesn’t look the same for everyone in the province. With food prices on the rise, more families are finding it harder than usual around this holiday season. Yet many families earn just too much to be able to knock on the door of the food bank.
Breads from bakers
And that’s where the ‘Prakkie Over’ foundation comes into play. Cindy and Patricia collect products so that they can also serve a festive Easter breakfast to the minimum number and the group just above. They are, as they say themselves: ‘hunting for Easter bread’.
They hope bakers will help them by donating unsold breads to them. That’s why Cindy and Patricia visit several pastry shops at the end of the day.
The foundation helps 25 families a day. “The less fortunate people often can’t buy something extra, for example a slice of cheese, but Easter is actually good food; fair is fair. With a nice Easter breakfast and all that sort of thing.”
Extra tooth
The ‘Prakkie Hoofddorp’ foundation also recognizes that an extra effort needs to be made around Easter. Ronald and Miranda of the foundation are committed to 120 families from the Haarlemmermeer region when putting together Easter packages.
They started approaching companies last week. The families they help are in short supply, but they also just don’t qualify for the food bank. “These families also deserve to be able to celebrate a happy Easter.”
The families receive a free food package every week, which is now making way for the Easter package. From baking buns, orange juice, fresh eggs, Easter cookies, bags of chocolate Easter eggs and jars of jam; it lacks nothing.
Not only did shops give products for the packages, there were also two private donors who gave a total of 120 packs of drinking yogurt and 120 packs of Matzes, and a substantial donation, so that the final dot on the i could be put.

Satisfying
The families were very grateful. The reactions have already trickled in to the foundation. “Wow, what a great package. We would like to thank these donors and volunteers from Team Prakkie Hoofddorp who gave us such happy Easter days. And wish you a happy Easter as well”, was one of the reactions.
The reactions show that the package is received with love and also helps to celebrate this time with family. “A big thank you to everyone who helped put together this beautiful package! It will be fun this Easter.”
