More about Eric Carmen
The American singer was responsible for several big hits in the 70s and 80s. He started out as the frontman of the pop and rock band The Raspberries, for whom he wrote most of their songs, including their biggest track: “Go All the Way”. When the Raspberries disbanded in 1975, the musician began his solo career, which moved away from rock and towards power ballads. His first two singles were big hits in 1976: “All by Myself” and “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again.”
Several of his tracks became successful songs when interpreted by other artists – Celine Dion covered “All By Myself” in 1996 and Olivia Newton-John covered his song “She Did It” in 1977.
Carmen also had a hit with its contribution to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. “Hungry Eyes” brought him back to the top of the music charts in 1987 and reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The following year, his piano pop song “Make Me Lose Control” was a similar success, reaching number 3.
Eric Carmen is survived by his wife and two children, Clayton and Kathryn.
