Since 2014, the poor economic situation in Venezuela has provided a breeding ground for an outflow of no fewer than six million Venezuelans. A shortage of simply everything resulted in a Venezuelan humanitarian crisis on the rise. This resulted in a major regional reception crisis, which hit neighboring Colombia particularly hard. To this day Venezuelans – albeit in lesser numbers – leave their country in search of esperanza, hope.
