Hundreds of tourists evacuated from Peru’s Machu Picchu amid strikes by tour companies

Nearly seven hundred tourists were evacuated from the former Inca settlement of Machu Picchu on Saturday, the Peruvian government reported. They were transferred by train to the nearby town of Ollantaytambo following actions by local companies against the privatization of ticket sales in the area.
