Hundreds of counterfeit items seized in action by the Ostend police
This week, six night shops and six accessory sellers were visited by the police and various inspection services. In total, more than fifteen official reports were drawn up.
Warnings and PVs
The RSZ (National Social Security Office) and the RVA (National Employment Office) issued a total of three verbal warnings for part-time work, not registering as self-employed and not reporting a cooperating spouse.
The FPS Finance in turn drew up eight PVs, including for the incomplete registration of receipts. One of the businesses checked did not use a cash register. In addition, six PVs were drawn up by the FPS Economy for alleged counterfeit goods.
Fines
No less than 250 smartphone cases and another hundred other accessories, such as earphones, charging cables and screens, were seized. The investigation into the authenticity of some items is still ongoing.
Finally, fines were also imposed on two night shop operators. One operator was unable to present a license for the sale of alcohol and tobacco. The tax stamps on his colleague’s bongs were missing. Only one night shop was completely fine.
