After his TV interview with Johnny de Mol, Humberto Tan gets a big scolding from media journalist Dennis Jansen. “Humberto, just listen more closely to the answers!”
Johnny de Mol was on Humberto Tan’s talk show last weekend to look back on the turbulent period he has gone through, but according to media journalist Dennis Jansen, the conversation was a succession of missed opportunities. He thinks that the talk show host really should have asked more.
‘Listen up!’
Dennis is disappointed, he says in the AD Media podcast. “The conversation itself could also be sharper. When I see Humberto interviewing Johnny de Mol… That Johnny really talks, but Humberto… Listen more carefully to those answers!”
According to him, Humberto fails at crucial moments. “At a certain point Johnny says: ‘Yes, it has brought me a lot as a presenter, as a person, as a father.’ Then I think: well, tell me! What then?! Just tell! Just listen a little better!”
Fun and popular
His famous colleague Angela de Jong agrees. “Yes, or dare to have it sanded. But he doesn’t want that either. It should all be cosy, fun, popular.”
Dennis: “Look, he really doesn’t have to delve into that family completely intimately like some kind of gossip magazine, but if Johnny himself gives the lead, just keep asking. What then? What did you do then? Tell!”
Angela: “It has a very high familiarity level. Not just that interview, but others as well. It is very timidly asked.”
Cabbage and goat
It is a pity that Humberto does not get everything out of it, according to Dennis. “I think Humberto can do it honestly. I think I sometimes hear him on the radio and then I think: well, that’s just a good interview.”
Angela: “Yes, but well, if they are famous people then often the cabbage and the goat have to be spared. Then it has to be fun, then we have to remain friends and then you get that.”
