She was the showpiece of RTL 4’s talk show bar: Eva Jinek. However, she takes off and three gentlemen remain: Beau van Erven Dorens, Humberto Tan and Renze Klamer. What now?
It is obvious which of the remaining three talk show presenters is the audience’s favourite: Beau van Erven Dorens. After Jinek’s exit, 65 percent of Mediacourant readers see him as the great talk show star of RTL 4, followed by Humberto Tan with 24 percent. And Renze Klamer? It has to make do with a meager 11 percent.
Three gentlemen
A major disadvantage of the Jinexit? All of RTL 4’s talk show stars are suddenly male, which is just about a mortal sin in the context of diversity. Still, channel boss Peter van der Vorst seems to be hinting that the three gentlemen will not be joined by a new lady on the talk show front.
Peter says: “In recent years we have established a strong late-night programming, which Renze, Humberto and Beau are continuing to build on together.”
Leonie or Merel?
Viewing figure prophet Tina Nijkamp thinks this is a great trio. “They have Humberto Tan, Beau and Renze at RTL. Eva didn’t necessarily score better than they do. The only downside might be that they only have men now. But I don’t think they will hire a fourth talk show host, three is really enough,” she says The Telegraph.
Ron Vergouwen, the media connoisseur of NPO Radio 1, does not rule it out, however. “A loss for RTL. They still have 3 great late night hosts, but not a single woman in between. Will it be Leonie? Or maybe Eva bestie Merel Westrik?”
RTL News director Renske Holwerda: “Or Fidan Ekiz.”
More Humberto
It doesn’t seem like it for the time being, but which of the three remaining gentlemen will get the best months and become the most important talk show star of RTL 4? Renze Klamer really wants to, but he is by far the most colorless gentleman of the trio. Beau is very popular, but he has indicated several times that he does not want to make too many broadcasts.
Humberto then? He was the one for years anchor on the late evening of RTL 4. With his famous talk show RTL Late Night he played around almost all year round. But he doesn’t make sense anymore. “I’m going to make ten weeks now, but ten months, like with RTL Late Night, will not happen again,” he says Boulevard.
More in 2024
Humberto will be seen more during the week in 2024, but according to him that plan was already there. “The original plan was that Eva, Beau and I would alternate during the week. Renze was going to do the weekend.”
By ‘the weekend’, Humberto means that poor broadcast on Sunday. So there is still enough room to use Renze during the week, but will you win the talk show war with him? Probably not. “It will only play from 2024. So in that respect RTL has time to think about what they want. We all need to think about it for a while.”
