Human remains found at water tower in Ostend

The restoration works on the water tower are in their final phase and only now were unexpected human remains found. The skull emerged first, followed by femurs and other bones. It probably concerns old human remains that are now being examined by the Immovable Heritage Agency. The find could be important for the history of the city and provide more information about what happened in the city.

The area where the ancient skeleton was found has been cordoned off for further investigation. However, this should not delay the restoration of the water tower. The water tower will be used this summer as a practice room for the speleology movement in Ostend.
