Hulkenberg shines in Verstappen victory in the sprint

Max Verstappen is still unstoppable in Formula 1. The world champion easily won the sprint in Spielberg and continued Red Bull’s winning streak this year.

All eight previous Grand Prix and both sprints have now been won by the world champion team. For Verstappen it was the fourth sprint success in the eighth attempt.

After 24 laps, the Dutchman triumphed in front of his teammate Sergio Pere and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari. Verstappen extended his world championship lead on Perez to 70 points before the Grand Prix on Sunday (3:00 p.m.).

Formula 1: Strong Hülkenberg scores three points

Nico Hülkenberg, who had never made it into the top three in 189 Grand Prix, was in second place until half-time, then lost positions, played poker with dry tires and ended up sixth in the end and still scored three World Championship points.

After an upgrade, a sprint victory is now worth eight World Championship points and is therefore quite significant. In 2023 there are a total of six sprints on the World Cup calendar.

Verstappen secured pole position in qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix on Friday.
