The 2-year-old toddler who was found this morning in the water at the Slotplaats in Huizen has died. This is confirmed by the police.
It would be a toddler from the nearby preschool. Witnesses said this morning that the child was removed from the ditch by a woman and two officers.
The boy was resuscitated by the emergency services, but that was of no avail, according to the police.
Due to the accident, many emergency services were at work throughout the day. Fire teams, two ambulances, police officers and a trauma helicopter came to help the boy.

It is not yet clear how the toddler ended up in the water. The police are currently investigating this. Firefighters have combed the ditch further.
