A clothing store completely burned down in the Kerkstraat in Huizen last night. The blaze released a lot of smoke and local residents were temporarily evacuated by emergency services.
The fire was reported to the emergency services around 4.45 am. Local residents were immediately removed from their homes. The fire has now been extinguished, the fire brigade reports on X (formerly Twitter), but the store has been completely destroyed.
Smoke development
The fire released a lot of smoke and the fire brigade is currently working to ventilate the burned building and surrounding shops. All local residents were able to return to their homes around 6 a.m.
The fire brigade advises local residents who are bothered by the burning smell to close windows and doors and switch off ventilation systems.
