Hugo Broos in Kortrijk as national coach of South Africa

“It is nice to come back to your country and that with a strange team. We also played a good match, it was a happy reunion.” Hugo Broos is briefly visiting Belgium. He is currently on an internship in Lille with his South Africa. This week they play another game against world champions France.

Broos announced in 2019 that he was retiring. After a disappointing period at KV Oostende as sporting director and interim coach, it was enough. Until South Africa contacted him for a job as national coach.

South African football is making a comeback with the ex-coach of Club Brugge and Anderlecht, among others, after the disappointing performance of the past ten years. We went to visit Hugo Broos on and around the fields of KV Kortrijk.
