Hugo Boss is investing in his hometown of Metzingen.
The clothing group’s headquarters will be expanded to include a new office building with capacity for 350 new jobs, Boss announced on Monday. The company will invest a total of more than 100 million euros in the Metzingen campus between 2021 and 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new office building, which officially began construction, took place on Monday. Completion is planned for 2025, almost a year after the company’s 100th anniversary in 2024. In addition to the new administration building, the Metzinger group’s investment also includes the modernization and digitalization of the showrooms and the introduction of an e-commerce photo studio on site. In addition, the 175,000 square meter campus also houses a newly designed VIP shop, a restaurant for employees, a barista bar, a TV studio and an event era, which, among other things, increases the attractiveness of the location for employees shall be.
Sustainability is also a central aspect of the changes. The company is aiming for platinum certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the new building. This is the highest assessment level of the DGNB, in which various aspects of the buildings are examined.
“The year 2024 will be a real milestone in our company history when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hugo Boss,” said Boss CEO Daniel Grieder. “At the same time, we are laying the foundation for the sustainable and long-term success of our company. In this context, the campus of the future is being built at our headquarters, which is particularly important for attracting more international skilled workers and positioning us as a preferred employer.”
Not only was the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building announced on Monday, but the renaming of the address of the new building was also communicated. The entrance area of the campus is now on Holy-Allee, which was named after the former CEO and grandson of the company founder Hugo Boss, Uwe Holy. The renaming is part of the brand’s upcoming anniversary.
