A very large fire is raging in a firelighter factory in Oisterwijk in North Brabant, the safety region reported on Monday. Train traffic between Tilburg and Boxtel has been shut down.
The fire broke out in the night from Sunday to Monday and was extinguished, but flared up again on Monday morning. Around 9 a.m., flames erupted from the roof of the factory.
A lot of smoke is released during the fire. People in the area are advised to close windows and doors and switch off the ventilation.
No one was injured in the fire. The fire service is doing its utmost to extinguish the fire and prevent the fire from spreading further. There are extinguishing hoses over the track near the fire, because extra water is taken there from a nearby waterway.
According to Broadcasting Brabant it is not the first time that a fire has broken out in the factory. The factory was already on fire in 2013 and in September 2019 there were four fires in a few days.
