A caravan was completely burnt out this afternoon in Zuid-Scharwoude. The fire broke out just before three o’clock. The large cloud of smoke caused by the fire could be seen in the wide area. No one was injured.
The caravan was located on the Wielewaal in Zuid-Scharwoude and burned down completely within an hour. Despite the fact that the caravan was in a residential area, the fire did not pose a threat to surrounding buildings, says a spokesperson for the North Holland North security region.
The fire did, however, cause a large plume of smoke that could be seen in the wider area. “In a caravan you always have a lot of plastic, and that will smoke a lot,” explains the spokesperson.
Nothing is yet known about the cause of the fire. The remains of the burnt-out caravan are now being cleared away. No one was injured in the fire.
