Huawei suspended orders in Russia – began layoffs

Chinese technology giant Huawei has started lay off its employees in Russia for a month, according to a Russian-language publication by Forbes.

– There are no orders, so why should employees go to the office. After one month, the redundancies will either continue or the employees will return to the offices, Register reports an anonymous source told Forbes to Russia.

According to the newspaper, the Chinese working in Huawei’s Russian branch have continued to work normally.

Forbes highlights Huawei’s decision to stop supplying equipment to Russian operators in early April. Forbes links the cut-off to U.S. sanctions banning the export of American technology to Russia because of the country’s war.

U.S. authorities have warned Chinese companies not to help Russia amid sanctions. Sanctions have certainly affected Huawei’s business on the hardware and network side in a short period of time.
