Injured for a long time: Does Yussuf Poulsen have a future at HSV?
Yussuf Poulsen missed his first season at the Hamburger SV 19 league games. Injuries repeatedly set the captain back. What role will the Dane play in the future? HSV? Those responsible have a clear answer to this.
HSV continues to plan with Poulsen, whose contract runs until 2027. Sports director Claus Costa sees the 31-year-old not only as an important leader in the dressing room, but also as a valuable factor on the pitch. His experience, game intelligence and tackling skills should continue to help the team.
However, there is no guarantee of a regular place. After five injuries and only 15 appearances (one goal), HSV wants to control the attacker’s workload even more precisely in the future. Costa admitted that no one can currently say whether Poulsen can complete a full season without major failures.
At the same time, the club is hoping for significantly more appearances than last season. After all, Poulsen returned at the end of the season and made a good impression during his brief substitutions.
HSV shortly before transfer: This loan professional is staying
After Kofi Amoako, HSV could soon introduce its second new signing for the coming season. And the offensive player already knows his way around Hamburg well: Albert Grönbaek is expected to be signed permanently after his loan. HSV and Grönbaek’s parent club Stade Rennes are said to have agreed on the transfer, reports the “Abendblatt”.
The Danish portal “Bold” had previously reported that the Hamburgers were transferring 4.5 million euros for the variable Dane. Grönbaek should have a contract until 2030. The 25-year-old was initially absent for a long time in the second half of the season due to a thigh injury, but quickly made his way into the starting eleven in the season finale. In seven appearances he scored one goal and two assists.
HSV icon Keegan has advanced cancer
Former HSV professional and former England national coach Kevin Keegan is suffering from advanced cancer. The 75-year-old said this during an interview in front of an audience in a theater in Newcastle. Back in January, Keegan’s family announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer and spoke of “persistent abdominal problems.”
“I had a car accident and had to have an operation,” said the former Liverpool FC and Newcastle United professional. “During the scan for surgery, they discovered I had cancer. They said they had an absolute top doctor to treat what I have – stage IV cancer.”
