Jan Vapaavuori, chairman of the Finnish Olympic Committee, is moving to Denmark, reports Helsingin sanomat newspaper.
of HS Vapaavuori will temporarily move to Denmark. He works for the Nordic real estate investor Nrepi for four months.
– There may be some individual situations where you have to hurry. I often go to Finland and many tasks can be done remotely. Four months is a short time, Vapaavuori commented to the newspaper about the question of managing the Olympic Committee.
A strong position
In September, the Olympic Committee led by Vapaavuori published a strong statement on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and teams in international competitions.
The Olympic Committee said it still has a negative attitude to the participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes and teams, and does not approve of the organization of international competitions in these countries.
– In our opinion, it is impossible to think that the line would be relaxed when the situation has not changed in any way in terms of military operations. In these matters, it makes sense for the sports club to move in step with the rest of society, Vapaavuori stated in the press release.
