Not so long ago that the animated film trilogy How to Train Your Dragon came to an end: the third part of the series about a Viking boy who befriends a fire-breathing dragon was released in cinemas in 2019 . Now the US magazine “Variety” reportsannounced that Dean DeBlois – the writer and director of the original 2010 film – is currently working on a live-action sequel to How To Train Your Dragon.

So far, no further information about a possible cast is available, nor is anything known about the content of the live-action film. The only thing that has already been communicated is the release date: DeBlois, who will again direct the reboot, has announced that the film will hit theaters on March 14, 2025.

The three How to Train Your Dragon films, starring Jay Baruchel, are among the most critically acclaimed animated films of the 2010s. Overall, the film series was able to dust off four Oscar nominations, including best animated feature film and best original score. In addition to Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, and Jonah Hill have also served as voice actors on the films.
