Good intentions: how to identify and achieve your goals

Develop plan A

«In life, plan Bs often save us. However many people don’t even have a plan A, and this is one of the reasons why they are unable to live the life they would like. Or they have a program in mind, but can’t stick to it they get lost behind the urgencies of the moment, sacrificing important dreams and goals», says Doctor Mazzucchelli. That’s why he came up with it “Plan A” (Giunti Editore), a tool capable of taking the reader on a transformative journey. Objective: the best version of yourself. He enclosed in the pages self-help tools to make a take stock of your life, understand which direction to give it and then plan concrete actions that will lead to their goals, one 1% at a time.

Take stock of your life and understand your goals

«The first part of the planner is dedicated to your own life balance. Through a series of questions and reflections, each will develop a clear perception of his own strengths, critical points, valuesand the meaning he attributes to the word “success”. The second section is kind of “reverse journey”in which one will focus on one’s own big long term dreamand then backwards we will focus on medium and short term vision of one’s life. The ultimate goal will be understand your most important goals and therefore game-changing actions to give priority to in the next 12 months”, underlines Doctor Mazzucchelli.

The strategic agenda

«The third part is astrategic agendaa tool which will help you take note of your commitments, as well as carefully planning and controlling the direction to be given to life, week after week. The agenda is blank: it will be up to the reader to enter the names of the months and the specifics of the days in the calendar. This way you will be able to plan your growth at any time of the year and not necessarily in January. The fourth part is dedicated to the balance of what was done in the previous 12 monthswhile the last one is needed to score extra but important notes» continues the expert.

What is success

“What does it mean be successful professionally? Become CEO of a big company and earn a lot of money? Set up your own business and open a business? Turning a great passion into work? Work just enough to make a good living but also have plenty of free time? Or what else? AND from a personal point of view? Have a fit body? Be a good partner, parent, citizen, friend? Cultivate deep relationships? Contribute to an important cause? Dedicate yourself to your passions? Travel and have experiences? Starting from your own values guideI invite you to reflect on meaning of a successful life from a personal and professional point of view”, suggests Doctor Mazzucchelli.

Dream big

“For achieve great results are needed two types of objectives, realistic ones and unrealistic ones. The first they help us to take small daily steps in a reasoned and sustainable way, seconds they give us the energy to get up in the morning and try “in our small way” to change the world around us for the better. I therefore invite you to write down all your dreams or desires, everything you would like to be, do or have. It doesn’t matter whether they are small or large, short or long term, as long as they include different areas of life”, advises the expert.

Imagine yourself in 10 years

«If we had full power to decide our typical day in 10 years, what would it be like? Getting out of bed who we would like to find at our side? Where would we like to live? What kind of person would we like to be? What we would like to do? We don’t need to think about material aspects that can be part of the “Dreaming big” exercise, but activities that we would like to occupy our time. To be clear, instead of writing: “I want a 30 meter boat”, better: “I’d like to go sailing on the weekend”. The activities that we will put in writing will allow us to reflect on the direction to give to our life», concludes Doctor Mazzucchelli.
